During the late 1800s, there were annual summer parades of the local friendly societies in Armadale. In 1900 these parades were combined as a Children's Demonstration to mark the Relief of Pretoria in the South African War. Then in 1902, Armadale Children's Gala Day was established to celebrate the donation of Wood Public Park to the town by James Wood, coalmaster of Bathville. The day consists of a number of local ceremonies including the crowning of the pageant Queen, proceeded by a parade down the centre of the town. It was this parade that WeatherEvents.net was able to bring live to the Internet this year, which also marked the 100th Armadale Children's Gala Day.
